4 Reasons Bloggers Should Focus On Building Their Email List

Most bloggers focus heavily on Google search traffic and ignore all other marketing channels.

They hope and pray to get enough traffic and enough people to tap on their affiliate links so they can earn a commission from sales.

When bloggers aren’t chasing affiliate sales they are filling their content up with (annoying) ads just to make pennies per visitor.

This strategy is becoming less and less profitable by the day because Google traffic is becoming harder to come by.

That is why I started putting a lot of effort into capturing the email of as many website visitors as possible.

(and I started this process years before the recent Google updates)

For one of my niche blogs, I have been able to build a list of over 10,000 subscribers.

This email list helps me generate tens of thousands of dollars a year and I will detail those ways below.

An easy way to get quick affiliate sales is by including your links within your email newsletter.

This is because your email list should be your most engaged and loyal readers.

Weekly roundups, special deals, a back story of your experience with a product, and other types of emails are perfect for placing your affiliate links.

I met someone at a mastermind who had a fishing niche email list that generated over $100k in revenue a month just from affiliate offers.

If your list is large enough this could result in dozens or even hundreds of sales in a short period.

2. Do Content Partnerships With Your Email List

Content partnerships can come in many different forms.

Giveaways, sponsored content, and content series are great ways to collaborate with brands.

If your email list has at least 500 engaged subscribers, you can charge for the exposure to that audience.

I currently have several content partnerships in which I am charging them to deliver content about their products to my email list.

3. Increase Your Website’s Resell Value

If you are in the business of flipping niche blogs or you plan on eventually selling your website then having a large email list significantly increases its value.

People who buy niche websites want to make sure there are reliable ways of monetizing the website long-term.

Traffic sources like Google Search, social media, and paid ads can fluctuate over time and are becoming more expensive.

Targeting your email list is easily the cheapest and most effective way to generate revenue for your website.

So if you want to get the most money for your blog when it is time to sell it, focus on building a large and highly engaged email list.

4. Drive Traffic To Your Articles

Imagine attracting thousands of visitors on demand to your newly published articles.

That is what you can do with your email list.

You can schedule emails for each new article you publish or even send out weekly round-ups of the articles that were posted that week.

This is especially valuable when you are working with brands doing content partnerships and want to give their articles a traffic boost.

I have a student in my Partner Profit Program who is making $500+ a month offering content partnerships with email (with about 4,500 subscribers).

So if you haven’t focused much on building your email list I hope my post can convince you to start.

A great way to attract email subscribers is to create some sort of high-value lead magnet they are interested in receiving.

I typically use lead magnets like giveaways, a collection of special discounts, or a helpful guide to attract email subscribers.
